Environmental Technician – North Dublin

We are seeking an Environmental Technician to join our client’s growing environmental remediation team in the greater Dublin area. The successful candidate will manage a range of domestic and marine oil spill projects from initial site investigation through remediation and final reporting.

The role involves a combination of environmental consultancy, project management, fieldwork, client liaison, and technical reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to manage (under supervision, from a very experienced team) multiple live projects simultaneously while maintaining high technical and customer service standards.

Typical Project Scope
Domestic heating oil spills
Commercial hydrocarbon contamination incidents
Marine spill response
Site investigation and remediation oversight
Environmental sampling and monitoring
Environmental risk assessment and reporting

Working Arrangements:
Combination of site-based work and office attendance as required
Company vehicle or mileage allowance 
Laptop/mobile phone provided 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with a highly experienced existing team, management of domestic oil spill remediation projects from notification to closure
  • Coordination and oversight of remediation contractors and subcontractors
  • Site investigations including soil, groundwater, surface water, and air/vapour sampling
  • Environmental monitoring and assessment
  • Technical report writing and data interpretation
  • Preparation of engineering/site drawings and figures for reports
  • Liaison with clients, homeowners, insurers, contractors, regulators, and members of the public
  • Assessment of laboratory analytical results and environmental risk
  • Management of project schedules, budgets, and purchase orders
  • Updating and maintaining internal project databases and records
  • Travel to sites nationwide, including occasional long-distance travel and overnight stays
  • Participation in emergency spill response activities, including occasional marine spill incidents

Candidate Requirements:

Essential
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline
Full clean driving licence
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Experience in technical report writing
Competent in Microsoft Office and database systems
Willingness to travel extensively as required

Desirable (preferable but not essential)
Experience in contaminated land assessment or remediation
Experience with soil, water, and ground gas/air sampling
Knowledge of hydrocarbon contamination and remediation techniques
Familiarity with environmental guidelines and risk assessment
Experience preparing engineering or technical drawings
Project management experience
Experience dealing with members of the public and clients in sensitive situations
Professional and confident communicator
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Practical and adaptable approach to fieldwork and project delivery
Comfortable working in both office and site environments
