Bid Manager

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Pipeline Management:

    • Work with partners to identify business opportunities.
    • Track opportunities with existing and target clients.
    • Manage and continuously improve the Tender Library.
    • Coordinate document production and drafting.
    • Maintain and develop practice panel and client lists.
    • Track and report on activity, results, trends, and statistics.
  • Tender Execution, Project Management & Writing:

    • Lead Bid/No Bid decisions with senior management.
    • Advise on strategy including key win themes, USPs, and positioning.
    • Conduct market research to inform strategy and submissions.
    • Work with senior stakeholders to agree on pricing strategies.
    • Draft and edit high-quality, client-focused content.
    • Project manage the entire bid process, sourcing and creating new content.
    • Prepare pitch and presentation materials, including rehearsing and coaching presentation teams.
    • Conduct debriefs internally and with clients; communicate feedback internally.
  • Leadership & Team Development:

    • Coordinate and attend Senior Management Tenders meetings.
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate the bid team to ensure high performance.
    • Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams.
    • Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews and process enhancements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to primary degree level with a minimum of 8-10 years' relevant work experience focused on bid and proposal development.
  • Strong track record of leading end-to-end bids, ideally on public sector and complex multidisciplinary opportunities.
  • Experience in a professional services firm with good commercial judgement.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and strong people management skills.
  • Practical, organised approach, able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Sharp eye for detail and high standards in written work.
  • Professional, positive manner and sound judgement, including handling confidential information.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Familiarity with tendering portals is preferred.
