Solicitor – Medical Negligence (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover)

About the Role
A well-established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Solicitor with Medical Negligence expertise to join the team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover for up to one year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to manage a varied and high-quality caseload within a busy plaintiff litigation environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior solicitors and support staff in progressing medical negligence claims from initial instruction through to resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of medical negligence matters independently.
- Taking detailed client instructions and advising clients throughout the litigation process.
- Reviewing and analysing medical records and expert reports.
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, motions, briefs and legal correspondence.
- Liaising with medical experts, counsel and third parties.
- Conducting settlement negotiations where appropriate.
- Preparing cases for Court hearings and trials.
- Attending Court and consultations as required.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional obligations.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate in Ireland.
- Demonstrable experience handling Medical Negligence cases.
- Strong knowledge of Irish litigation procedures.
- Excellent drafting, advocacy and case management skills.
- Ability to manage files autonomously while working collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and client care abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience in plaintiff litigation.
- Familiarity with High Court personal injuries and medical negligence proceedings.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
