Legal Secretary

Our client, a leading national Irish law firm with offices in Dublin, Cork, and Limerick, is dedicated to providing a range of commercial and personal legal services. They are currently seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their dynamic team in their Limerick City office.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Act as the main contact person on behalf of the relevant solicitor/partner, answering queries as required and accurately relaying information internally and to external bodies and the general public.
  • Manage the filing system for the relevant solicitor, including indexing material, identifying and opening new files, and ensuring efficient retrieval of files on a day-to-day basis.
  • Use a Dictaphone system to prepare and type various documents, correspondence, legal submissions, etc.
  • Work to continuous deadlines in a highly confidential environment.
  • Maintain contact with staff from all areas within the firm and externally with clients, medical professionals, insurance companies, counsel, etc.
  • Respond on own initiative to general queries and requests for information/assistance.
  • Perform general office duties as required to collate, type, layout, photocopy, assemble, bind, and dispatch correspondence, etc.
  • Provide cover on reception, handle postal duties on a rota basis, and train/mentor new employees as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Completion of a secretarial course with high proficiency in typing and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Dependable, with the ability to use discretion and initiative.
  • Punctual and able to work efficiently using own initiative.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures and a legal case management system would be an advantage (full training will be provided).
