Legal Secretary/Assistant

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary/Assistant to join their busy but friendly Debt and Asset Recovery Team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in managing a high-volume, fast-moving workload and has a background in law, particularly in mortgage litigation debt.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage a high-volume, fast-moving workload.
  • Assist with the administration function of the team including drafting, issuing, and serving letters.
  • Instruct summons servers and tracing agents.
  • Take instructions from clients and prepare briefs.
  • Handle incoming correspondence from agents, solicitors, and defendants.
  • Prepare reports and liaise with court services.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls from agents, solicitors, and defendants.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient handling of confidential data.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a law firm, with previous experience in mortgage litigation debt being a significant advantage.
  • Calm, professional, and approachable manner.
  • Excellent administration skills demonstrating an eye for detail and an ability to organize, manage, and prioritise work within the team.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as being a strong team player with a desire to learn.
  • Strong IT skills including competency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and experience of case management systems (Keyhouse is an advantage).
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
