Infrastructure Engineer – Dublin 16

Essential Skills:
Technical authority on Windows Server architecture in a clustered, highly available environment
Extensive experience in configuring and supporting virtualisation technologies, particularly
VMware vSphere and Azure
Excellent skill sets in Microsoft Exchange including both hosted and cloud-based solutions
Excellent experience in administering Microsoft Active Directory Domain services and its associated roles and features, such as DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, CA
Experience supporting Microsoft Windows client Operating systems and desktop hardware architecture in a corporate business environment
Excellent experience with HP Enterprise server architecture and SAN technologies
Excellent TCP/IP experience and networking skills
To have previously supported a Network switched infrastructure
Be proficient within Microsoft Office applications
To have previously managed small technical projects from conception through to completion
Previously worked with backup solutions for VMware vSphere in particular Veeam

Position Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer is to be responsible for all technical aspects of the our Infrastructure, communication and telephony systems located at multiple data centres, head office, client sites and remote radiologist locations throughout Ireland / Europe

Position Overview
Working closely with the Solutions Architect, IT Manager and PMO, the Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the successful delivery of high-level technical support and customer service to the business on a day-to-day basis.
The job holder will also be responsible for the successful delivery of technical infrastructure projects that underpin, complement, and align the business objectives of the organization.

Operational Management

  • Responsible for the timely resolution of core client, radiologist, and internal infrastructure issues with a key focus on repeat problem analysis and prevention
  • To maintain and develop the company’s local/cloud virtualisation and storage infrastructure providing capacity, resilience and performance analysis and improvements
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and firewall issues
  • To own infrastructure support tickets analysing technical issues quickly and efficiently, escalating both internally and with 3rd party suppliers where required to ensure resolution in a timely fashion

Preventative Maintenance

  • To take joint responsibility in ensuring systems are configured securely and that the patch management cycle is maintained in line with the organisations agreed schedule.
  • To ensure Core issues are documented and understood with a key focus on repeat problem analysis and prevention
  • To upgrade and configure system software that supports IM&T infrastructure applications per project or operational needs

Proactive Monitoring

  • To ensure the proactive monitoring and alerting of all systems ensuring any potential or actual
  • Core System availability issues are identified and rectified as quickly as is possible
  • To be both proactive and reactive to ensure the smooth running of the department
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
