Reed are assisting the Adult Services team at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council in seeking a Social Worker to join the West Locality team. The team will look to maintain their excellent service to the residents of Southend through effective assessment and review functions.

The opportunity on offer is a full time, permanent qualified Social Worker job role to ensure that Care Act responsibilities are met. This is a great time to join the team who are currently going through transformation in line with the transformation agenda and developing different ways of working in the community such as working within GP surgeries. This is to promote independence and a holistic approach to assessment and care management that encompasses the need to prevent/reduce and delay an adult’s need for care and support.
This role will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate social work interventions including group, individual and community work as well as crisis intervention and appropriately responding to safeguarding enquiries.

The team are seeking an experienced social worker wishing to develop their career. To succeed in the role it is essential that you hold considerable knowledge of the Care Act and other key legislative drivers such as Mental Capacity Act; Continuing Health Care and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.

You will have experience and proven ability in ensuring that adults are appropriately safeguarded. It is desirable that you have some hospital and/or community experience to understand the interface and delivery of care between Health and Social Care, to include a working knowledge of Continuing Healthcare. They West Locality team aim to provide a seven day a week service to local residents and carers and there will an expectation that the successful candidate will work weekends on a rota.
