REED Legal are looking for a qualified Prosecution Solicitor or Barrister to provide legal advice as appropriate to the Council, Cabinet, Members, Committees (including sub-committees) and officers from the Council’s Management Groups in relation to complex issues within prosecution cases and to establish excellent relationships with clients and provide exceptional customer care.

This role will challenge your ability to manage a heavy caseload within tight deadlines whilst working proactively and efficiently. This role will enable you to grow as a legal professional through a varied and exciting case load. You will need to have the ability to assist clients to determine strategic service priorities, contribute to the formulation and implementation of strategies to effect change to service delivery and to assist in the identification and implementation of appropriate work practices that facilitate the timely delivery of the service

Your Duties as a Prosecution Lawyer Will include:

Social Care
 Attend legal planning meetings and provide advice to the client department.
 Issue Care applications and manage a care caseload from initial instruction to final hearing including preparing Part 25 applications and the instruction of experts where necessary in an efficient and timely manner, and adhering to Court timetables.
 Correspond with parties, Counsel and the Court.
 Attend pre-assessment and mid-way meetings with the Family Assessment Centre.
 Review and amend statements and care plans received from the client department.
 Conduct advocacy, including attendance in the East London Family Court before Magistrates, District and Circuit Judges as and when required.
 Provide written advice to the Agency Decision Maker in addition to summary of experts’ reports where adoption is the care plan.
 Issue placement applications within relevant timescales.
 Manage a pre-proceedings caseload under the PLO.
 Cover the Social Care duty rota on allocated days to provide legal advice as requested.
 Act in emergency situations to obtain EPOs where necessary, including out of hours.
 Familiarity with the out of hours procedure.
 Deal with requests for information under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
 Maintain an electronic case management system.
 Work effectively as part of a team.

 Advising on all aspects of Landlord and Tenant law, including the preparation of leases
 Disposal and acquisition of freehold land and premises
 Preparation/approval of licences, easements, tenancies at will
 Drafting leases
 Advise on all aspects of property law, including allotments, open space and housing associations
 Advise and register legal charges
