Our REED Further Education branch are currently working with a great College in the South West London area who will be recruiting for a high demand of experienced Learning Mentors.

The successful candidate will be vibrant, passionate and determined to have a positive impact on the learner’s success. This role would be ideal for graduates or those that need extra income.

The college

The College is a major provider of Full Time, Apprenticeships, Part Time and Undergraduate courses.The College offers both academic and vocational courses from Level 1 to Level 6 and a friendly, stimulating environment for study, all set in a historic market town by the River Thames.

The roles and responsibilities for the position include:

-You will be supporting students up to Level 3 in a Further Education setting
-You will be working with students aged 16+
-Experience supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
-Flexibility to work variable hours-We require a good standard of math & English as our students will need support in GCSE and functional skills.
The role of the Learning Mentor will be to support students and teaching staff in the learning environment. Support generally covers “At Risk” students identified at enrolment or by tutors during the academic year and can be linked to any of the courses offered by the College.
Types of support include literacy, language and numeracy skills, encouraging learners to attendance and complete work, explaining how to organise work, basic computer troubleshooting, keeping students on track and helping them avoid loss of concentration. Support is generally in the classroom under the guidance of teaching staff and maybe with an individual or a small group.

What the ideal candidate will need:

-Minimum level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
-Experience supporting student up to Level 3 in a Further Education setting.
-Good classroom management
-Able to motivate learners to learn
-Clear enhanced DBS or willing complete one
