Are you a Business Development Manager looking for a challenging new business focused role with autonomy, a strong earning potential & progression? I've been retained on an excellent role with a Birmingham based start-up that can offer exactly that.
The business are a niche consultancy firm who offer tax saving solutions to (predominantly) large organisations across the UK - some of their existing clients include the likes of Britvic, Costco, Screwfix, Komatsu etc. They have an excellent pedigree with a significant amount of technical experience from the Big 4 accountancy firms at their disposal. Up to this point the owner of the business has been the driving force when it comes to business development - he's now keen to bring a Business Development Manager on board who can solely focus on acquiring new clients for the firm.
You'll have warm leads to follow up on & you'll naturally be expected to self-generate some of your own leads too through a variety of methods (Linkedin, networking, picking up the phone & utilising your existing network etc.). You'll look to set up a meeting (via webinar or in person) to discuss the client's current affairs to determine whether they'd benefit from your services. Once a need has been identified the closing part of the sale is normally pretty straight-forward, then you'll pass on the delivery of the work onto one of the technical team, leaving you to focus on the next client.
This is a very consultative/solutions based sales role, so you'll need to be strong at uncovering a need within an organisation, then selling how you can help the client. This is different to many solutions sales roles in that many times the client doesn't even realise they have a problem that needs fixing - that's where your strong questioning will come in.
In terms of background you need to be a new business-winning Business Development Manager with a proven track record of securing new business with large organisations. Given the technical nature of what they do, a background in selling a finance / accountancy related solution would be ideal, they're also soon to be releasing an analytics tool, so a software sales background could also work quite well. You must have a consultative/solutions focused approach, have sold a B2B service as well as being a self-motivated, professional individual.
They're offering an excellent package in return - you'll receive a £35k-£40k basic + £5k car allowance with a £65k OTE (uncapped). In terms of progression, they're keen to bring additional BDM's on board based upon the success of this hire, so you'd be in prime position for a sales management role if that would appeal.
As they can interview & appoint during the lockdown period I'm sure there'll be significant interest in this position, so if it sounds of interest & you have the required experience please apply immediately to ensure you don't miss out.
