ACCOUNTANT - LAW FIRM


Location: Hybrid – flexibility in terms of remote working, with some office attendance (in Carlow/Dublin office) required
 

Background:
A highly regarded specialist health law Firm with a leading team of lawyers engaged in cases of medical negligence, personal injury, product liability and fatal claims alongside commercial, family law and property divisions, is currently seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant to join their Finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of client ledger
  • Monitoring and processing of client related payments, transfers and receipts
  • Review, approval and processing of EFT and cheque payment requests
  • Posting of relevant journals
  • Set-up of new clients / matters within practice management system
  • Client Invoicing
  • Review/approval of bills of costs and client statements of account
  • Client money related activities
  • Processing of write offs
  • Monitoring of uncashed cheques
  • File closing and archiving processes
  • Maintenance of key registers
  • Review and processing of invoices
  • Review, approval and processing of EFT and cheque payment requests
  • Posting of relevant journals
  • Supplier set-ups
  • Preparing/uploading payment files
  • Physical cheque / cash lodgements at the bank
  • Management of Petty Cash
  • Filing of relevant documentation
  • Bank and other reconciliations
  • Managing control accounts
  • Journal entry for all group entities
  • Transfers between group entities
  • Clear down of various accounts
  • Monitoring/tracking of accruals, prepayments and write-offs
  • Monitoring of fixed asset additions
  • Periodic reporting for management and solicitors
  • VAT returns / DIRT certs

 

Key Requirements
Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a comparable role, is essential
Relevant third level qualification in a finance discipline (e.g. Certificate, Diploma, accounting technician/recognised payroll qualification), or equivalent is desirable.
Experience within a legal setting is a distinct advantage
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel, Word and Outlook
Experience of Legal Evolve system would be a distinct advantage
