Job Description

Title: Committee Executive

Duration: Two year Fixed Term

Applications are invited for the position of Committee Executive in the Representation and Member Services Department. Reporting to the Head of Member Services, the successful candidate will act as Secretary to the Conveyancing Committee and have executive responsibility in relation to cybersecurity matters.
The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting our members and will carry out the following duties in line with standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Head of Member Services:


Key Responsibilities
• Act as Committee Secretary to the Conveyancing Committee including providing executive secretarial support including drafting agenda, attendance at committee meetings, briefing the Committee on agenda matters and drafting minutes of committee meetings and dealing with all committee correspondence.

• Dealing with queries to the Conveyancing Committee helpline from members.

• Liaise with the IP and Data Protection Law Committee Secretary when developing the Cyber Security area of the website.

• Liaison with other relevant Law Society Committees eg Taxation Committee and Probate Administration and Trusts Committee.

• Liaison with numerous external bodies on conveyancing issues including the Property Registration Authority, the Revenue Commissioners, various government departments, other professional bodies representing architects, engineers, surveyors, auctioneers etc.

• Managing requests from IT providers for licensing in relation to the use of conveyancing documentation etc in their systems, including reviewing the product and its security, agreeing commercial arrangements and making recommendations to the Conveyancing Committee.

• Management and development of online resources including best practice guidance in relation to cybersecurity and Conveyancing matters.

• Working with different Committees to establish, develop and communicate guidance and policy on Conveyancing and Cybersecurity.

• Deal with best-practice queries from members of the profession in relation to Conveyancing and Cyber Security.

• Management of the Cybersecurity helpline for members.

• Preparation of Memoranda and reports on policy issues related to Conveyancing and Cyber Security as and when required.

• Utilise all relevant communications channels to help our members in the areas of Conveyancing and Cybersecurity including preparing Gazette and e-zine articles, website notices, drafting practice notes on recommended best practice and developing guidance leaflets on Conveyancing and Cybersecurity.
